Aside from safety and recovery time, one of the biggest questions breast augmentation patients have is, When can I start working out again?
1 week before
Start tapering off upper-body exercises like shoulder raises, seated back rowing and push-ups. Shy away from strenuous upper-body activity, as you may strain the chest muscles that will be most impacted by the surgery.
1-2 weeks after
Consider the first two weeks after surgery as your workout reprieve. Take it easy during this time, and allow your body the time it needs to heal.
3-4 weeks after
Though you can start getting back into your workout routine, you should not perform any overhead action at this time. Limit your upper body exercise to bicep curls and tricep press-downs to stimulate blood flow to the shoulders. It also is important to start postural exercises to acclimate your body to the new weight it's carrying. These can be as simple as using a seated back-rowing machine. Christopher also recommends internal-external rotation: Stand with your elbows at your sides, with fists facing forward at a 90-degree angle. Rotate fists in toward your navel and out again. If desired, use elastic exercise bands for resistance.
after 4 weeks
You can integrate push-ups and other exercises that use the chest muscles back into your routine, but start slowly and stop if you feel any strain or discomfort.
