This question goes for anyone, including the good Dr!!
I am 27 years old and I still have acne. Not severe but I do get small pimples quite often. My face is also really dry. I live in CO and it is so incredibly dry here. I am wondering what I can do for my face to help moisturize it without making it break out. Every thing I have used so far is making me break out. Also....what should I be doing to help my skin stay healthy and young. Facials? Certain skin regimen? I am not doing a great job and I am starting to notice little lines or weird things that I did not have a few years ago. Just like all the other women I want to stay young looking as long as I possibly can!!!
Thanks for the help!!

I'm 47 and still get zits though they are the deep sebacious (sp?) kind that need to be injected or lanced by the dermatologist. Have you seen a Dr about this yet? When I was in my 30's I went on Accutane, and it worked wonders for about 10 years, but you do have to be very careful with it. My kids started breaking out, and they used Proactive - which worked pretty well for the first couple of years. Eventually they both started using Differin (prescription cream) and it really has helped clear them up. My SIL recommened a cleansing wash from Sephora called DDF (Drs. Dermalogic Formula) to my GF and me last month. It's a glycolic wash. My GF's kids were breaking out, and she said their faces have totally cleared up. I've just started using it again (had to stop because I was having eyes done & poison oak) and it really made my skin look great. Hope this helps _________________

Hey Larissa, hopefully the doc will chime in. Dry skin combined with acne...hmmmm. Do you use any exfoliating/acne products on your skin now? Retin a? Glycolics? Acne treatments? The reason I ask is I've sometimes overused those products in the past which made my skin seem dry but in fact, it was just irritated/dry from the products I was using.
I would think a good oil free moisturizer most of the time with maybe retin a for the acne (and oh btw, it's good for wrinkles too) every other night. And microdermabrasions or a light lunch time peel once a month.
But if you're using scrubs and other harsh products, I'd suggest lightening up on those. That might be part of your "dry" problem. _________________ Sue |
