Rippling, at what point do you say enough?Ok, this is starting to bug me. Earlier I had a little rippling and thought no biggie. Now, however, I can't run my hand on the underside of the breast without feeling tons of rippling. Some days are worse than others - probably hormonal fluctuations because sometimes everything just feels softer and I really, really notice it. Today is one of those times.
Anyway, it's not visibly a problem (you can't tell if I'm in a bra or bathing suit and it really doesn't even show naked because it's at the bottom) but, I'm afraid if there is that much ripple I run the risk of rupture.
I have no reason to go back to my ps. He cleared me at my last follow-up but, now I feel like I should call him. I know he'll say not to worry about it and I'm not sure if I re-do this, the same thing won't happen so is it worth it? When do you go back? Anyone go through this??

IDK the answer to your question.... I have visible rippling in the cleavage area of my right breast & it totally pisses me off. But, there's no way I'm going through another surgery now.... and I cannot afford it anyway..... so I just deal with it for now. curse

What fill amount do you have DH? I mean I know your stats say 330 but do you have a 330 implant filled to 330? I guess what I am trying to get at is, do you think you are underfilled? Sorry about the rippling-I can slightly feel some on the undersides of mine to but not enough to bother me at all. It is only felt if I lean over and isn't visible at all....I guess you just have to decide for you when to much is to much!

Yeah Jennkat, I have 330s filled to 330 and it irritated me when he told me he only filled them to 330 because at the consult he showed me an underfilled implant and explained how they always put a little overfill to prevent rippling as he held it up. He even said if they ripple severly they fail over time. Then when I found out he didn't put any overfill I was nervous and he said it's perfectly fine to fill the exact amount of cc's as long as they don't underfill the implant.
At this point, I really don't want to go through this again mainly because I don't have the time. I wonder if I should call him though so he knows I'm not happy with the rippling, maybe he'll re-do it for me over the winter but, by then, I'll be a year and a half post op, so who knows.

I would make an appt with your PS to discuss....honestly the second time around should not be as difficult if need be...but if you have doubts I think you should discuss it with him now - that way if something happens or this gets worse - you'll have a game plan.

Sammax, that's what I was thinking. I'm not quite a year post op but, I'm afraid if I wait too long, he won't do anything to fix it. I'll call him this week. Thx!

I have quite a bit of rippling along the bottom and sides. You can't see it, only feel it. I don't think it increases your chance of rupture, it's more of a cosmetic problem. But it surely wouldn't hurt to ask, and I'm sure the sooner the better!

Do you have a lot of overfill? It seems to me a lot of women have rippling so, when does it become an issue? I guess my fear is rupture. If I know for sure I won't wake up one morning with one flat boob, I'm not going to worry about feeling the rippling since it's only apparent to me (and dh who couldn't care less).

Well, my PS gave me 1 350 filled to 350 and 1 350 filled to 380. I can def. feel it more on the 350 side. But, that said, my PS said that the implant companies have done all sorts of studies and the implant that is filled to the exact volume prescribed does well in the long run. The only thing that increases the chance of rupture is if it is filled below that number. So if you have 330 in a 330 you should be fine as far as a rupture. I would call him though, it can't hurt to let him know how you feel about it!

I have 600s filled to 650, so a little overfill.
I think it's weird that underfill leads to rupture, it seems like overfill should.

Thanks Jennkat and Snippy, you both made me feel better.
Snippy, underfill is worse because the edges "fold" over on themselves and rub together so the implant can wear. Whereas overfill plumps them up so they don't rub at all, only smooth edges, kwim?

Yeah, that makes sense! I was thinking more in terms of a baloon, you know when you fill more and the shell gets thinner.

Oh - fwiw - I have *true* overfill.... 420-450cc shells filled to 460 cc. And I have palpable & visible rippling. But, I did when I had my old ones too... which were 360-390cc f/t 375cc.... I think it has to do with the fact that i have thin skin... and pretty much NO real boobs left. I'm all implant. curse

Yeah, see that's my other concern. Is rippling just a fact of life with implants? I mean do I go through a redo to possibly not even fix the problem? I don't know, I guess I'll call him just to mention it but, I already know what he'll say.

I have silicones and have rippling at the bottom of righty. Seems to me that the less breast tissue you had prior to your BA the higher chance of rippling. In my case, I believe that since I had 3 redos that my tissue was somewhat compromised by my first PS (who did 2 of the redos) curse
Did you have a lot of tissue to begin with? I wouldn't think that rippling would cause a rupture - otherwise there would be a lot more redos for leaking implants (thats my theory and I'm sticking to it - lol) Checking with your PS to see what he has to say would probably be helpful. Ok - rambling now......Hope you can get it cleared up.

NOPE!! Ha ha.
Thanks everyone, you've made me feel better. I suppose there are worse outcomes than a little (or a lot of) ripple.

I can feel rippling along the bottoms and sides of mine too. :( I can't really see it unless I bend over. I've checked in front of mirror just to see...it drives me crazy. I started out with practically nothing though so what I have is way better. I still hate the ripples though.

I still have some visible rippling even after switching to silicone. It is not as bad, but still there. It doesn't bother me too much.

I am so sorry to hear about the rippling, Kathy! I will say that you look great and totally awesome though!!! I hope that all gets better for you and if you do have a redo that everything comes out the way you want them.

Thanks Sonia! I think after having so many others telling me they have it, it's not such a big deal. Mine isn't visible unless I'm leaning forward and even then, I can barely notice it (it's more the way it feels to my hand that bugs me) so, I think I'll just live with it for now because I do like everything else about them.
Thank you all for the replies

I wish I could say something that would make you feel better but I really don't know much about rippling...but I'm sorry your going through this. I would go to the ps and get his opinion.

You know... as a matter of fact I have a dent in my right boob... and I think it's rippling. I fawking hate it.
