Question for those of you that work out over 1 hour......I've been working out for 1 hour (at least 4 days a week) for 6 years now. I'm trying to do something different and shock my body, so I've been occasionally adding in and extra hour (2 hours total all at the same time). horseback
So anyway, on the days I do this, I'm noticing that I get just a bit of a nauseaus feeling. It seems to be food related, and it goes away after I eat. So I've added some extra protein on those days, and it seems to be helping, but is there anything else I should be adding nutrition wise?

I have read that it is good to eat fruit before a strenuous workout. It has the right amount of sugar and carbs needed for energy. Oranges, apples, and cherries are supposed to be good.

I definitely get that feeling after I push myself way too much. But I think for me it's because I ususally work out on an empty stomach. If that's your case as well, I'd try eating a small meal about an hour before working out. Maybe like half an energy bar.

Well, I ate a good breakfast, and in between classes had a banana. Maybe it's just something my body has to get used to.

Could it be dehydration rather than a food issue??

Our dance/fitness instructor told us to have 4 glasses of water before we come to class in the morning and some fruit and that should give us enough energy to make it through class and it also helps the body burn more fat. Not sure when you workout but maybe that would help?!?!?

I guess it's possible. I had a big container of water, but I went through it before my 2nd class was over. I'll try drinking more water on those days.

Could be dehydration, Kel. Remember, we're supposed to drink 10, 8 ozs glasses a day. However, those of us that exercise and sweat, we're supposed to drink more - to replenish all that we sweat out. Wish I could say I follow that, but it's hard right???
It could be sugar too. You're sugar levels might be dropping. Maybe you should keep a pack of energy gel (like Clif Shot) with you on your long workout days and suck one of them done halfway through your workout.
