Letting the newbie questions fly! LongOkay, here goes!First, some history from me. I am 41.5 (had my kids late) and have three sweet children. I have only had one surgery in my life and that was one year ago (7/24). I had an umbilical hernia repair/diastis recti repair at same time and I thought I would die. It was like an internal corset. I did have general anesthesia and hated the recovery room. The hernia repair part though was a breeze. I am tiny in the middle and my almost 9# babies stretched my abdominal muscles and they never went back. You could push in and feel my insides between the seperation (eww-I know). MY OB/GYN suggested repairing the diastis (permanent stomach muscle seperation) and having the hernia repair (it had been hurting since my first pregnancy). I didn't have a tummy tuck but now I have loose skin which I hope to have removed somehow when I have my BA. The loose skin is mostly because the PS did not put in any drains and I had to be "drained" three different times in those two spots on my stomach last year after the surgery. The skin never had a chance to re-adhere correctly (from the undermining) so I am left with a stomach that almost looks worse than it did. He was a very good PS and said, I look fine. My husband and I disagree. I am choosing a different PS for my BA. For my questions... Do I want overs or unders? (I almost wish I could post a pic of myself and have all of you tell me what you would go for if you were me). Can I do that or is that a no-no? I still have a fair amount of breast tissue and I am very lean. I lift weights lightly but may step it up when all my kids are in school for the day. Is a BA always general anesthesia or a type of lighter sleep? How do I "shop" for boobs? Do I take in pics of naked ladies to my PS? Do I buy Playboy? I am thinking I want the downtime of overs but the security of unders. I thought I wanted overs, cohesive gel, would you want those for the long run? Will a laser bra last and keep me from bottoming out? Does it seem women start treating you differently after a BA? What does it feel like when you hug someone after your BA? Do they feel cold inside? Can I sleep on my stomach? When I lay on my side will they most likely stand straight out? Or fall just a little? How do I know what size is big enough to love but not give me a backache? Thanks in advance for your help and advice. I am trying to think everything through well ahead of time. Let's see if I can help you some with these questions~
#1 - Most BA's that I have ever heard done were under general - there are some surgeons out there that do local anestesia though. I think it mostly depends upon the extent of the surgery. Me - I would choose to be knocked out! #2 - Find pics of boobs that you like - hopefully some befores too that look similar to yourself so that you can see your anticipated results - HOWEVER keep in mind that everyone is different so your results may not be exactly like someone else's. #3 - I chose unders and love them! #4 I've got silicones mod plus - WISH I had gone bigger and HP. #5 I don't know about a laser bra but you have peaked my interest. #6 Some women definitely treat me differently, others don't. My friends love me for who I am and are happy that I am happy. to the rest they can kiss my butt - jmo. #7,8 & 9 Hugs - don't bother me at all. I can lay on my stomach no problems at all too. very rarely can I actually feel them. I do tend however to get cold easily now, more so than before - cold natured anyway but now it's worse. #10 - It depends - on how you're built now , how big your pocket is and the ps's technique. Mine tend to fall to the side a bit which I don't like but I have huge pockets to begin with - thinking of a redo to correct this though. #11 good question. I have a bad back - specifically shoulder and was concerned with that - it's why I choose silicone (edited to say that to me ) they're lighter, Dr. Disaia says they are heavier. So far no real change in the way my back does - same as always. Some women do reduce or quit all together their weight lifting after the BA - some don't - it's entirely up to you and what you feel you can and can't do. HTH! #8 |

You can post pics, or a link to some pics if you feel ok with it. just remember this is a public forum, so anyone can see them. With lifting weights, if you are just a light lifter, unders will be ok, but if you are serious about lifting, and it is a part of your lifestyle, overs might be better for you. (you will not have the deformed boob while flexing/lifting) That is what I understand anyway. Is a BA always general anesthesia or a type of lighter sleep? I had the "Twilight Anesthesia" which is a local w/ light sleep. Every PS is different. How do I "shop" for boobs? Do I take in pics of naked ladies to my PS? Do I buy Playboy? I took pics out of Playboy. Bring examples of results you would like and what you don't like, so you are clear on all details. I am thinking I want the downtime of overs but the security of unders. I have unders, and if it is the healing process you are referring to, it was a piece of cake. I was concerned with my recovery time, because I have 2 small children. It all worked out fine. Does it seem women start treating you differently after a BA? No, not really. Only MIL. LMAO! but you know what....phuck it!! I am in love with my new boobs...and that is all that matters!! What does it feel like when you hug someone after your BA? Fine, I don't notice anything. Dh says it feels firmer when we hug. Do they feel cold inside? No. Can I sleep on my stomach? Yes. After a little time you won't even notice they are there! When I lay on my side will they most likely stand straight out? Or fall just a little? Mine fall a little. which I like. They move with my body. How do I know what size is big enough to love but not give me a backache? Well, I am a 34 DD. I am Tall, with an average build. I really like my unders. I was also semi-big into lifting weights (not body bulider tho), and yes, they did move a bit when i wa slifting, but nothing other people would notice. Is a BA always general anesthesia or a type of lighter sleep? My original BA, i had general, then for my revision, i had Twilight, which was awesome!!! How do I "shop" for boobs? Do I take in pics of naked ladies to my PS? Do I buy Playboy? Ive realized women who nursed or had a little sag have better results with a ba, they tend to look more natural. How do I know what size is big enough to love but not give me a backache? Oh, you can always take a pic then under this box it says ATTACH FILE click that find your pic and up load it the thread. However, remember that your pic will be able to be viewed by THE WORLD, so do not put a pic of your face with it. Thanks Boobsnj, I was wondering if maybe I had overwhelmed everyone by all my questions. I worked on that list for about a day and just had to get them all out at once.
I asked the question about women treating you differently b/c when I am at the pool or water park with my girlfriends and their kids, you should hear some of them blast the women they think have implants (aka great boobs). I guess it is jealousy. Which I don't really care about, I just wondered if anyone had been treated poorly b/c of it. Okay, another question. Do you get more attention from men? I am not sure I would know what to do with it if I did. I can just picture me with my three kids walking into Target and having some guy look or call out something. It is a catch-22. Want to look sexy, want to be left alone. KWIM? Thanks again everyone, sounds like unders are the way to go. I am off to bed now, it is 1am here. *yawn* Jenny |

I would say that yes I do get more attention from men but so far (knock on wood!) they have all been respectful. I mean, none of them have shouted anything or anything like that. Mostly I just notice them looking at me and smiling. Which, I guess sometimes can creep you out depending on what he looks like! Honestly, I noticed it much more at first, I guess I am used to it now. Once while standing in line at Wal-Mart I had a guy ask me if I was a fashion model but that's it. Not sure if that had anything to do with my boobs anyway!!! | ||

More of the men I know make comments or stare then strangers. And this is sometimes very uncomfortable. Mostly all of my friends girls/guys know i had a ba. Some strangers are gross and gawk, especially older men! But I don't recall anyone making cat calls or anything more then I got before ba It all depends on how I play them up.
When I first got them, me and a couple of friends were on the boardwalk ,and i was wearing a bikini top with shorts. OMG...you had to hear and see the gawks I was getting from other woman. My friends couldn't get over it and were laughing...I was getting annoyed, but then again I did have a bikini top on...kwim? I have to admit they do look good in a bikini top  So be fair warned....woman are bitchy, caddy and jealous.

I have unders, my PS recommended them for me and for mammograms. Choose a great PS, and see what he/she recommends for your body type.
Is a BA always general anesthesia or a type of lighter sleep? There is a lighter sleep called twilight. I had it and would choose it again. How do I "shop" for boobs? What does it feel like when you hug someone after your BA? Right after, it's uncomfortable, because they are hard as rocks. But now, it feels normal hugging someone. Do they feel cold inside? Nope, they are the same temperature of your body. Can I sleep on my stomach? Not for a while, and it will be uncomfortable for a while. I started sleeping on my stomach at 7 weeks and comfortablly at about 10-11 weeks. When I lay on my side will they most likely stand straight out? Or fall just a little? Mine fall a little. How do I know what size is big enough to love but not give me a backache? Pick a size that you think will make you happy and increase it a bit. Most people wish they went bigger.
