I went for a run!!I know, no biggie but, it's huge for me. I haven't been able to get motivated first of all and second, it was hard with the kids being around all summer (I just love excuses, don't you?)
Well, my baby just started kindergarten ::sniffle:: but, now I have mornings to myself, yay!!!
I went for a 40 minute walk/run to get myself started. I plan to get back into running shape and possibly even be ready for a 5K here in Oct and then a bigger race we have on Thanksgiving.
Wish me luck!!

Yeah....
Definately one of the benefits of kids back in school. Its bad enough being unmotivated and next to impossible to workout when there isn't any "alone" time. I've been in the same boat.
Here's to morning workouts!! :sprt6%:

Yay! :sprt6%: I love morning workouts! I "ran" on my eliptical today.(It's has a run simulation on it) I know it's not the same, but it's still a great workout.

Kel...I've done the run thing on the elipticals and imo it is TWICE as hard! Give me the open road anyday...ha/ha

Ya know I was thinking of asking Santa for an eliptical this year. I think it would be a great substitute for rainy/snowy days. Especially because the treadmill is so boring - I use it but prefer to be outside.
Do you guys recommend spending the money on one? I guess I should ask, does it get used a lot?

I use mine 3-4 days a week. I use it on the days I don't go to the gym.

I've gone through periods where I rarely used mine, when I go to the gym most days. Right now I'm using it a lot because I haven't joined a gym here.
It's tucked away into a corner, and I love having it for the days that I just want to do something quick at home.
I bought it back when we lived S of Omaha and didn't have a gym nearby, so it was my only exercise. If it weren't for that I probably wouldn't have bought one, but I'm glad to have it now and I don't feel guilty during those times I don't use it.

I really think I will get one. Thanks ladies!

Do you have any place that will lease one to you for a month? I always think thats a great bet cause then you can try out different models. That said elipticals are great...esp. if you've got bad knees.

Kathy - are you going to run in Manchester on Thanksgiving?? Maybe I'll run that one too.... isn't it 5 miles? I can't remember. That would be fun. :sprt6%:

It is 5 miles & I am thiking of trying it with one of the girls from work...Its kinda hilly so I really need to work on my endurance. You should do it!
My neighbor has been organizing a 5K in my town for the last 10 yrs too. Thats in Oct but I'm not sure if I'll run that...I may.

That would be a blast..... I think I will do it. It'll give me something else to look forward to. :) It's a pretty big race so it should be really fun....
I'm doing the greater Hartford half marathon in October.... and I also told my oldest that I'd do a 5k with him in November...... but, I haven't been running a lot lately... gotta get my groove back. I was out with an injury for a few weeks.... and now that I am single parenting it's sometimes hard to fit it in. But, now that the kids are back to school it should be better for me. :)

I have to really start working my butt off. I haven't run in the last couple of days because of my wrist but now that the cast is on I should be fine.
We'll never find each other in Manchester unless we plan it but, I doubt I could keep up with you anyway, lol. Literally thousands of people come out. Have you ever been there?

Nope, I've never been to it. I've seen it on TV.... but that's it. I forgot about that race.... I'm looking forward to it now.... thanks for reminding me.
And - I am REALLY slooooooooowwwww.... so I'm sure you could keep up. ;)
