I was diagnosed with...rheumatoid arthritis. Also, with an enlarged valve in my heart which means they have to monitor my blood pressure + mild regurgitation
I have to go to a rheumatoid specialist. I didn't know much about this disease at all, I had no idea that it attacks the immune system. Pretty scary, but I'm glad it was this and not Lupus, or cancer or anything else. I have been feeling quite chitty and now I know why which is kinda a sigh of relief. kwim? It also makes me tired, which explains a lot.
Thanks for letting me vent...

Ohhhhh (((((((hugs!)))))))
I didn't know you were having problems. I know a few women who have RA, one here. It's a struggle, but I know Nicole has found a good combo of medicine that have her feeling pretty good.
Good luck, and vent away when you need!

Aww, I didn't know you were having problems either. Looks like I need to check in here more. But that's good that you at least know what it is and can go forward with treatment.
Glad to know that you're alright

Tanx Brashley! Yeah, I don't dwell on it but for a long time have been achy and tired and because so many illnesses/diseases mask one another I couldn't put my finger on it until I had a physical and told my dr. The blood test ruled that it's def RA. The heart thing is a bit scary too...
I have to reduce stress...lmao ha ha ha ha
lose weight and exercise! All things I hate

How are you going to manage that with your job? Please. That would stress the most relaxed person. I would want to choke half the kids and the other halfs parents.
Sorry to hear about the RA but i'm glad it isn't anything more serious.

Oh no! I had no idea you were having problems either.
I don't know much about it, but I hope it's manageable. You take care of yourself now. Get a friend to work out with you.
And how EXACTLY are you supposed to reduce stress??????? Your job is the description of stress!!!!!

I know!! but I love my job! Even though I hate the way certain people at work deal with these kids, by coddling them and all.
I have actually been feeling very sad lately and when I spoke to my gyno she poo poo'd the pill and when I told her about my RA she said, "it's not like it's CANCER"! I said "im well aware of that, and I happy about that, but it's painful and I"m sad!" She then told me that the pill doesn't make you feel sad or your boobs hurt!!!! Can you believe she said that?? I said "what"? Ah yeah, they do! anyway long story short, she switched my pill from Loestrin to Yaz, I'm hoping it's the cure all.
I have an appt. with a rheumologist the 20th of Jan.

B....sorry to hear that you are having health issues. RA can be painful, I have a friend who has been dealing with it for years.
I hope your next doc appt will give you more insight on how to deal with the side effects.
Get as much rest as you can, the holidays can be so draining.

Why do Gynecologists insist that the pill doesn't have side effects? I felt AWFUL both times I went on it. And without changing a thing gained a substantial amount of weight both times. And yes, it made me feel sad, tired, sick, etc. After being pg I realized that I had similar symptoms, I got sick if I waited too long to eat, just felt drained, got hung over at the slightest drink (not that I did that while pg, but it was a weird side effect.)

The pill DOES have side effects. Certain pills messed with my blood sugar. I'd get the shakes, be really tired, etc. My Dr. told my mom he thought I was on drugs. Needless to say I switched Dr's and found one that was willing to change the pills around until I found one that worked for me.

I am sorry to hear about your RA. Trust me, I know how it is. I am always seeing specialists for various vague illnesses. I wouldn't be surprised if I have RA or Fibromyalsia next. I don't know why but I think all the stress I have internalized has finally pushed me over the edge physically. I don't know much about RA but I know a lot of these types of disorders can be improved by avoiding food intolerances/allergies and stress. I feel a lot better when I avoid lactose. It is hard to figure out what works for you but it is worth a shot. Some of these illnesses require medicating constantly. I hope you can find a balance of meds and diet that keep you in remission so you feel better. It is really hard to function when you're drained of energy and experiencing constant pain. I hope you have an amazing, stress-free holiday!

Yeah, the gyno really pissed me off. I'm looking into Holistic remedies as well as I did make an appt. for the RA and I have to make one for the cardio.
Your right sexy it is draining! Thanks for the well wishes and right back to you!

How have you been feeling. I haven't been able to get on here for a few days?
I can't believe the Dr told you that about the pills. They do different things to everybody. I really have no side effects but like Heather i gained weight. About 40 lbs worth.

Your gyno needs her head examined...duh the pill has side effects. I can't stand when doctor's down play the way a patient feels - just irritates me to no end. As for the RA - it is managable. My Mom has had it for more years than I care to remember. Her's is more to the extreme and she is in most of the clinical trials for new medicines thanks to a really good rheumatology group that she's in with.
Vent away, that's what we're here for, well everyone else is on here more than me but I still care

Thanks girlies. I miss you Ksmith, hows it going with everything? How are the kids. I hope you and your kids are doing ok.
Yeah this RA sucks, especially in this weather. I am soooo achy! I start taking YAZ Sunday, so I'm really hoping it will be the cure all for my moods etc. I work with someone who just got her doctorate in Holistic medicine and she said she'll help me.

I take YAZ and it has only made my issues seem worse. Not sure if it is due to the Yaz or if it is just following its natural course. I hope it helps you! It has helped my skin a ton.

Well, I am more fatigued, I have become a bit anemic, I have some joint pain, low sex drive and I have a lot of GI issues that I didn't have a year ago... Not sure if it is at all related to the pills but imo, you can't completely count the posibility out. Tons of people do extremely well on Yaz and like I said, it is worth the low energy for the clear skin. I think I will try something else when my prescription runs out. It is different for everyone so hopefully it is the right pill for you!
I also found this board & it has always freaked me out a bit:

merry xmas! I will check back soon.

Sounds more then just the pill imo. But your right it can be the pill. I hope you feel better soon. And if you think I'm going to check out a forum that freaked you out, you crazy! If I start having symptoms maybe I will, but I don't want to have anything negative in my head, kwim.
Happy New Year girl!

yeah, definitely more than just the pill but maybe the pill has something to do with it. I've actually been feeling better lately because I have been taking vitamins and supplements but I think reading that Yaz board could make anyone believe they are poisoned by Drospirenone. The pill definitely caused my low sex drive. I always had a great drive before the pill.
