Has anyone tried bare minerals?

Now that I'm off my birth control I am struggling with my adult acne. I feel like I need a little coverage (I normally don't wear foundation, I actually HATE foundation) & since I hate foundation I thought this might be a good option. The kit is $60, so I don't want to get it & then hate it. Anyone have any experiences or info to share??

I just bought the starter kit and plan to try it this weekend. I will post about it as soon as I can.

thank you so much! by the way, where did you get yours? I have seen it at ulta, just wondering where else it's offered. I saw it online, but looks like you have to sign up for some club, I don't think I like that........

It's sold at Sephora stores also Select Nordstroms have it.

I have Bare Minerals and I love it!!! I think you'll really like the stuff. It takes a little while to get used to applying it- but it is actually really easy and quick. :Hi:

I have it too. I've convinced some of my friends to use it. You can go as heavy or light in coverage.

People seem to either love it or hate it. I like it because it gives great coverage but lets my skin breath and doesn't break me out.

Other people hate it because they say it makes their pores more noticeable and they don't like the way it looks on their skin.

You might go ask for a demonstration on your skin to see if it will work out nice on you.

And I've heard that it sometimes breaks women out more...... while other people's skin gets better.

Does that cost money?

If you go into the Sephora stores, they usually do it for free. I'd go there at the beginning of your trip to the mall.... assuming that your SEphora is in a mall, and then wear the foundation around the mall and check the foundation in natural light -- outside the mall-- before buying. It someitmes takes awhile for the foundation to settle into the skin.

There are also mineral foundation that gives free samples of tons of colors online through the internet. I bought a few. You can even call their consultants to ask what their recommendations are before you get the free tiny samples of foundaiton.

Maybelline just started advertising their mineral foundation and blushes. It looks pretty decent too. It's also probably a ton cheaper than Bare Minerals.

thanks, that's a really great idea about going there first, then checking it out in different lighting before going back to buy it!!

Yes it is amazing...
Best product i have ever used & best beauty product i have ver used.
I let all my friends try on mine & they always run out to buy it !

I love it, after 4 months I actually threw all my other stuff away.

The colors in the kits are darker than their titles imply. Light was way too dark for me, I needed Fair. If you have an Ulta or Sephora make the trip to color match. I also find the warmth way too dark for me, so the kit didn't make sense.

They say you don't need the B.E. brushes, but i like them better than any others I have tried.

Happy shopping!

I found that to be true too. You don't really need anything besides the actual foundation.

The brush broke on me, so I use a different better brush. And the warmth was really brownish on me, so I didn't really like it.

The pure radiance is pretty, but you can buy that separately too.

Ok, I got the starter kit today. I went to Ulta, sephora is just too much of a drive, I just didn't have the time. They colormatched me at Ulta, they said I'm DEFINITELY a fairly light. But I haven't watched the DVD or played around with it at all yet.

Tell us how you like it!

And the nice thing about having a couple of colors to work with the foundation is that you can blend them to the right color too... espesially when it starts getting warmer out and you get tanned.

I found it highlighted my large pores, looked shiney on me, and made me itch. same thing with the jane iredale, and I know for me its the bismuth in it because other brands that do not have that in it do not have the same itchy effect. if you want a cheaper alternative, i'd suggest aromaleigh or everday minerals, neither have bismuth and are less shiney than the BE. they also come in a lot more colors, they cost much less too. good luck, I hope it works out for you!
Happy to be

I bought it and couldn't stand the way it made my skin look I really looked make-upy (I know thats not a word - lol) and made my pores look terrible, no matter how lightly I applied it.

I wish I could've had the same results you ladies have had

Ok, I didn't like the way the "fairly light" looked at all, it was really shiny & gave me this weird pinkish look. But I tried the "light" & I like it a lot. I did some reading online & found that a lot of people broke out really bad using it because of the bismuth. So far I seem ok, but I"ve been breaking out a lot because I stopped my bc, so how will I know which it is??? So far only one new pimple since starting it............

So where do you get the everyday minerals?? Just in case I decide I need to switch..........I'm not itching with it though, so is that a good sign that I won't have a reaction to it?
fishchick72

Oh, I forgot to add that I did not wear compact powder over it. I did a layer of mineral veil, then a light layer of foundation, then another layer of mineral veil, & a very light application of warmth. Yesterday was my first full day of wearing it, I had to use my oil absorbing sheets once or twice (less than usual) & only had to touch up with the mineral veil once, which is far less than I do with compact powder normally.

you have to buy them online, the everyday minerals have a free sample kit you pick and just pay for shipping, it cost me like $4 to try it! :ibh: it came super fast and they give a very generous amount.
I've also tried cory cosmetics, which I did NOT like at all, very chalky and the shadows did not last, the color wasn't very pigmented etc. if you haven't looked at www.makeupalley.com I'd highly recommend you check that site for reviews on the different lines, its really very helpful

I think if you just watch and see if you break out, for me it didn't happen right away but after about a week it did. the thing with BE is I feel they are a bit pink looking, and my skin already has redness to it, so its not flattering on me.
the other companies have so many more colors, in general though I prefer regular talc pressed powders, and I don't find the minerals to help my skin any. but other people have totally different results, and it does help them, so I feel its very individual.

here are the links if you want to check them out. this one was just posted on the jewelry board, and they have a bunch of colors! no bismuth either-
