Had my first mammo with implants today ~Boy, were they thorough! This is not my first mammo . . . actually, it's more like my 10th. I had my baseline at 30 because of my mom having breast cancer (which, incidentally, was found soley through mammography - get those mammo's, girls!)
Anyway, it was obvious my saggy, floppy old boobs were much easier to compress to get pics of than the newly implanted ones for sure!
The tech actually had to take the last set of pics - ones where they just try to compress the breast tissue and muscle without any (if possible) implant - three separate times! That meant, take the pics . . . go to the little waiting room while the doc views the films . . . come back to the machine . . . take the pics again . . . etc. The doc reading the films was not happy with the pics until the third set - which I was very appreciative and grateful for. I was there for an hour as opposed to, like, 20 minutes in the past.
They finally got good pics and said everything looked good and sent me on my way.

I'm terrified of the day I'll need a mammo, ESPECIALLY now that I have implants. I think I'd be more scared having silicone as if it got ruptured by the pressure I wouldn't even know.
Glad you're okay though!

It must hurt!!
Can it rupture with all of the pressure???

It wasn't all that bad - discomfort wise - I've been through worse things! When they compressed the entire breast with implant, it wasn't that bad. It was the compressions where they were trying to just get tissue and muscle - those were the tight, uncomfortable impressions . . . and they had to do them three times on me, as I mentioned, to get good pics.
I can't imagine the full-breast compressions have anywhere near the pressure to rupture an implant. It really wasn't so bad. I'm just glad they were as thorough as they were.

OMG. I go for one in two weeks and I'm so nervous. Sissy, you're a trooper for being so understanding. It's good that they were thorough but, I would've been a bit impatient. Maybe the tech was inexperienced taking pics with implants?
You've made me feel better about going for my appt. Thanks lovey!

Actually, I'm surprised how patient I was! DH went with me becuase we were on our way to his grandmother's funeral! When I came out he was not so happy to have been waiting so long!
I mentioned to the tech that I hope they don't too many "like me" to have to do in a day. She said it goes in spurts.
It was kind of comical! She's got her fingers in between the plexiglass plates try to push my boob in just so far without getting too much of the implant in there or smashing her fingers . It was quite labor intensive for her! Oh, and she was complaining (jokingly) about me being so tall! She said one of the other techs saw how tall I was and said she couldn't "do me" cause she was so short!
