Girls who wax...

"Down there"... do you do it yourself, or go to a spa/salon to get it done? If the latter-- how much do you pay? Do they do ALL the way "down there", or just the front area? How bad is the pain, 1-10?

I shave, and I tried waxing at home a few times, but I had to go over each area a few times, and I couldn't bring myself to even try DOWN down there-- are you even supposed to do it there? I have no idea...
Doreen

D...I go to a salon. I usually get an upside down triangle. I have never had a Brazilian (totally nude).

She charges me $24.

I use wax to just get around my upper bikini part, I shave the rest.. It really hurts when u do it yourself, if you go low...KWIM... I havent got the nerve up yet to go strip down pantyless for a wax yet!!

I get a brazilian for $60 and lemme tell you it's worth every penny. Although, the pain SUCKS. I've heard it gets less painful with time but haha for me that hasn't kicked in yet.
midwifemom

I get full brazilian and also pay $60..... it does hurt, but I think that has gotten better. The hair is certainly thinned out over time.... I have trouble off & on with ingrown hairs on top.... which kind of sucks.

I have done a little bit of maintenance with an at home waxing kit and that worked out ok... but was a bit messy.

In the salon---$45- $75. Yes, everything...sometimes I leave a small landing strip.

Pain---yes, it hurts but the pain is over quickly. On a scale of 1-10 I'd put it at about a 4-5. It's a little sore for the first 12 hours...like a mild sunburn.

I. like mwm, sometimes get ingrowns whick suck. I exfoliate everyday, which is supposed to help.

I tried shaving recently, but I'm going back to waxing.
dahlia

Thanks for the responses!

How often do you have to go back to get it done? When do you first start to get "pricklies" growing back?

For those of you who do the "full" wax, how embarrassing/painful/whatever is it for the really down there part?
midwifemom

It's like going to the gynecologist... it's no biggie. :) But, it does hurt to have your labia waxed - for sure.
sexy

i have been waxing myself with various products. I can't be bothered paying 60 dollars. It is messy to do it yourself and finding the right product for you is hard. I also wont get too close to anything if you know what I mean but i will do the necessary stuff to wear a bikini because shaving doesn't work well for me.
Heather1968

I just had this done for the first time ever (I had been a shaver prior-just leaving a strip) but I had my esthetician take it all off at the end of July. OMG!!!!!!! The pain was so bad! I had both of my kids vaginally with ZERO pain meds either time and this hurt, so a 10. They say it gets easier but I am back to shaving. It cost like $68 plus a tip.
dahlia

Thanks, MWM, sexy, and Heather... so, it hurts pretty bad, but it doesn't last long, right? I mean, I understand, it'd probably be sore for a while, but the intense pain is only a few seconds, right?

So does anybody have a response to how soon it grows back? I like the idea of doing it once a month or so (I think I've heard that's about how long you're supposed to wait to do it again), but I wouldn't want to have a ton of regrowth... KWIM?
midwifemom

I get about a month out of mine. :sprt6%:

I get my bikini waxed but now I am afraid to get a brazilian if it hurts more than CHILDBIRTH! Yikes. I don't think I need it there though. I do have problems with ingrowns from time to time because my hair has become so much softer. I also hate the grow out phase. I also don't think I could go back to shaving.

Anyhow, I recently took off my panties..hehehe, my girl covers me with a towel though so I am not exposed if you know what I mean. My panties were getting in the way so I was getting more of a "Leaning Tower of Piza" but now it is more like a rectangle. Don't go for a square or it will look like hitlers mustach. It last for about 4 weeks and she charges $30.

Your skin is more sensitive right before your period but you can also take two advil before you go in. It feels like a bandaid being ripped off but if the skin is held down while she is pulling the sting afterward goes away much quicker and if not that is when it hurts. Quick good, slow bad.

They often recommend regular exfoliating too. You can also use a product like Tend Skin or my favorite: Bliss Ingrown Hair Eliminating Peeling Pads which have alpha & beta hydroxy to help exfoliate (found at Sephora or Nordstrom).

I hope this helps. Just go do it to see what it is like. If you don't like it you can go back to shaving.

Yes, intense pain for a few seconds but my lady had to do many small strips of wax to get it all so there were lots of these episodes of intense pain for me. IDK. I am pretty hard core high pain tolerance but maybe I am starting to wimp out in my older age? lol Like MWM said, the labia is the part that hurts. The outer parts (like closer to your legs) don't hurt as much. I am sure it would get easier over time but I am not sure if I am up for it again right now.

I am like you, I hate the regrowth part so I don't know what the answer is (electrolysis -I guess). I could see regrowth within about a week to ten days. There is one lady on here who gets electrolysis-maybe she'll chime in soon. I know it's expensive but I've not researched it that well.

Yep--- I only get about 7-10 days total smoothness. But the hair grows in much softer than when you shave. It is NOT I was told that the more I do it the longer it will last. I was told that when you shave, the hair grows back it at different rates---cycles. So whne you go into to wax after shaving, there are some slow pokes under ther the skin that aren't waxed so they grow back sooner. The more you wax the more you'll get ALL the hair and the longer the wax will last. Plus the more you wax the less hair you'll get. I hope that makes sense.

I tried to do it myself once, and I will NEVER EVER do it again. It was torture, and it didn't even pull up all the hair. If I ever decide to do it, I'll go to a salon and have it done.

I'm looking into permanent hair removal (for down there) though. It would be worth the money to not have to wax or shave it.
skinnybint

I have my bikini line waxed professionally and have done for years

It hurts less as time goes on and the regrowth is much finer. The pain is about a 4

I leave a thin landing strip, and have it done every 4 weeks
alynneh

I want to do this and don't care about the pain. But, I don't want to pay all that $$ just to have growth 7-10 days later!

I think my girl will charge me $75 plus tip.
Boobsnj

I do Brazilian waxing...and have for years, it now costs me $45 plus a tip. It hurts like hell, especially around the middle (runway section, I call it I usually take 600 mill of advil or a percocet or wine! LOL No, I'm not kidding, not all of them at once, but sometimes at least one of them, but usually I forget! LOL Its the kind of pain that actually makes you sweat, but like you said, they rip it off and the pain is gone within 10 sec.
Good luck!
I wanted to add, it a great feeling and sex is better!
sexy

like i said, you can do it yourself if you don't get too crazy. I pretty much just do the stuff that is visible with a bikini and shave anything else that i want gone. I can't pay 70 dollars every time i want to go to the beach.
BecinOz

Go to salon :)
Cost $AU30
Cara

Please dont ttry to do this yourself!!!
Im a hairdresser, and i used to have my boss wax me, so its never cost me anything, but the average cost around here is $50-$60. Pain wise, it all depends on how well you take pain, yes, it does hurt, but it gets easier the more you wax. You'll probably need to wax every 3-6 weeks, depending on how fast your hair grows.
I stopped waxing cuz i got ingrowns so bad nothing helped, so i got laser hair removal!!!!
