Food Allergy causing awful rash!I have, for the past 3 weeks, been getting an awful rash. It moves around on my body.
First my cleavage, then down my hips, and now on the top of my bikini line.
I have been using the Anti Itch Benadryl cream like crazy, and am also using the clear calamine lotion.
This is awful and I have never had any problems like this before.
I have tried to figure out what may have caused this. The only thing totally different I have eaten has been these new Kashi TLC Cookies.
No other different foods, and I haven't switches soaps or lotions.
This is such a PITA and the itching is unreal!!
I am going to not eat the cookies for few days to see if they are the culprit. If not, then I don't know what do to. I love these cookies and have been eating 2-3 of them everyday for the past 3 weeks.

EEEkkkks...I had something that sounds very similiar. It was very itchy and a pain in the you know what! It started on my chest...went to my tummy, and hips. I went to the derm and she said it was not a contact dermatitis. It was a histamine reaction- of course. We were having santa ana at the time so she attributed it to something airborne. i took zyrtec for about a week and it disappeared. The itchy was horrible!

I'll try to post a pic...
I had never had a rash before. It is extra red because I had been scratching at night. The doctor told me NO SCRATCHING- it actually releases more histamine and worsens the cyle/itching.

Tori, mine is like that and it is bumpy and so red!
It is driving me up a wall !
No Kashi cookies for me today, so it is still too early to tell.
I did get some Benadryl pills and some cortisone cream to see if that helps. The pharmacist recommended I try this and get the Benadryl in my system and then slather the cortisone cream on.
Well, as suspected, the Benadryl made me pass out and the cream is helping some. The itching has lessened up, but now as soon as the pills wore off the itching returned.
I just took some more pills and put on more cream.
I am giving myself a good several days of this to see if it heals up and if not then I will search out a doctor.
How the heck do you not scratch?
That is the hardest thing not to do. Of course you know that!

Mine was actually really bumpy too- it's hard to see in the pic. Not scratching is really tough!!! Avoid hot showers and do not take baths- it will make it worse. Also try to wear loose clothing- really soft cotton is the best. Try wearing socks or cotton gloves on your hands at night- you may be scratching in your sleep.
Are you a tummy sleeper? My doc said that pressure on the skin- ie places that hit the mattress or where your panties hit the skin around the waist can cause the rash to pop up in different places. I hope it gets better soon.

Well last night when the itching was so bad, I covered an ice pack with a towel and placed it on the rash on my bikini area. It did help and made it feel better.
No I am not a tummy sleeper, more a side sleeper.
Yes the top of the panties does irritate the rash.
I am doing the loose cotton clothing so nothing rubs it, but it is not always easy.
The Benadryl and cortizone cream is helping to ease up the itching and when the itching really hurts I also take Tylenol to help alleviate the pain and how annoying it is.
I can't wait for it to go away, and I hope it doesn't just move to another part of my body again.

Tori the rash is still here. It is less red in appearance, and still itchy - but it does seem to be trying to go away. But I also noticed last night that I have more of this rash beginning in other places. It is going down the tops of my thighs, in my cleavage and across my right breast and also across the top of my abdomen.
My husband said it looks like a heat rash - except this doesn't go away it just keeps reappearing.
I am using Aveeno moisturizing soap and Aveeno moisturizing lotion and that is helping, plus I am slathering on Vitamin E oil to help with the healing.
I give up. I need to go a doctor but I am determined I can fix this on my own. My brother says go to the doc that why I have insurance. LOL! I know, but I want to see if I can try some stuff.

I agree, it's time to see the doc. The zyrtec I took cleared it up really quickly and it helped a lot with the itching. She gave me another rx for the evening but I never needed to take it. If it;s still really bad- they can give you an injection that should immediately provide relief for you. Make your appointment.

Well for now it seems the rash is gone!
Thanks to my hubby, I got rid of it. He told me to use Absorbine, Jr. on it.
Did that for a few days and now the mystery rash is 99% gone.
I am really hoping that it doesn't come back. I have some slight itching still on the sides of both my boobs, so I am going to keep up with the Absorbine, Jr. unti the itches ceases.
