Bare Minerals-for Fishchick and othersOK. I finally got around to watching the DVD and trying the makeup! Jeez, I had WAY more time for stuff like this before kids! Anyway, I like it a lot! It's light and luminous yet gives very good coverage and is easy and quick to apply. I think it will be my new day time foundation, esp. for summer time. My only complaint with the $60 starter kit is that in the "LIGHT" version (there's also medium and dark) they give you two shades of the foundation, "fairly light" and "light". There is one lighter shade in their line called "fair", which would have been perfect for me so I was a little disappointed in that. Maybe if I get some color in my face this summer, "fairly light" will work for me but it is a bit too dark right now and I think "light" will always be too dark. I can always buy "fair" individually on my own, I guess. Other than that, it's great and I think most people would probably love it.

Bare escentuals also has a skin revival treatment that you put on at night and it's suppose to help your skin as you sleep. Supposedly, there is 72 minerals in it. It's about $60. I havent tried it yet but I"ve heard some good things about it.
I'm scheduled for IPL treatment April 10th so depending on how that turns out, I may have to get some of that.

So how much would it be to skip the "starter kit" & buy the makeup, mineral veil, & brush on their own?

Mineral Veil by itself is around $19 and the over all color for the face is appx $20 and the foundation is about $25.
Brushes for the face range from $20-30 and for the eyes I'd say about 12-18 or so. .

Heather, I was just wondering... Do you tan in the summer? If you do then maybe the shade will work out for you afterall. Do they not let you test the shades before you buy it? I wonder how i am going to figure out which is best for me.

No, I never tan because I don't want the sun damage. And I am a very white girl so I tend to burn anyway! I wear SPF 15 on my face and neck every single day. I am not sure but I think it's a better deal to buy the kit just for the brushes alone. I would think they would have testers at Sephora to try although I didn't ask. Bare Minerals also offers a 60 day money back deal, at least on their TV ads. I think that applies to Sephora as well although I am not sure. Like I said, the "fairly light" shade works for me, just not the "light" one. If I really love it, I can go back and buy "fair" too. I think it's $25 and that's still a better deal than it would have been to buy all of this stuff separately.

Ok, I got the starter kit today. I went to Ulta (sephora was just too much of a drive, I need to study for my test on Tuesday today) & they color matched me & said I am DEFINITELY a fairly light. So I got the kit, but haven't watched the DVD or played around with it at all yet.
