Aveda skin care?I was wondering if anyone has ever tried any Aveda skin care line. I'm so-so on their haircare products, I have a couple that I use consistently and LOVE, but some things I've tried and have not (I don't like ANY of their hairsprays!). I've been using Proactive on my face, and while it has helped SOME, I still break out a bit and my face can get way too dry with it. The whole line (4 products) is 120 bucks, so I am afraid to splurge without hearing any opinions from people!
TIA!
Here is a link to the products:

I"ve only tried their hair products a few years ago but did see that they have makeup. Hopefully, someone will know but in the meantime, have you tried clinique?

Nope, I haven't tried Clinique ever, either. I tend to be a cheapskate but am thinking I'm going to have to pay to receive, KWIM? Since being off the pill my skin has worsened, that's for sure, it wasn't ever as much of an issue as it's been in the last several months. I NEED a facial to really deep clean my pores (they are nasty), but again, I'm such a tightwad about some things!
I just got an auto shipment of Proactive, so I guess I'm going to have to wait a little while, just wanted some advice. Thanks for the link, I'll look in to that, too! I imagine they'd have it at a Younkers or something here (we don't have much for higher end shopping like Sephora).

Here is a link that names all the stores in the state of Wisconsin that have Clinique.

I occasionally wear the clinique foundation b/c it's fragrance free and it's not too heavy on my skin. Also it has an SPF of 25. Since I'm so fair skinned and live in FL, I need it. Also, I will alternate some days and wear Bobbi Brown's SPF25 tinted moisturizing balm. Both are accepted by my skin which is surprising.

I have tried Aveda- I liked the thought of natural skin care. I must admit- I did NOT like it. It irritated my skin.

Bree if I were you I'd check www.makeupalley.com and see what the ladies say about it. I find most times their reviews are extremely helpful, they have saved me a lot of $$ from not buying products that got bad ratings.
if you want to try something more natural, i'd check the health food store or the health food section of your supermarket. I used to use aveda exclusively, but they really are not natural, they have lots of herbal extracts but use fairly harsh cleansers, and other chemicals. DH uses their black Malva hair line though.

The products that are "natural" can still be allergenic though, that's a problem. These makeup artists or sales people whatever you want to call them repeatedly say, it's all natural but that term is so overused :(
I used Origin's mushroom cleanser and my face flared up after it's use.
Really, it's all trial and error. If you have any sensitive skin issues, fragrance free foundations are probably a safer bet. Clinique is fragrance free, so is Bobbi Brown and of course the "mineral" makeup.

very true! I use some aubrey organics hair stuff, but some of his face soaps irritate the poo outta me. his stuff is truly 100% all natural, but some of his soaps have peppermint or lemon oil in them, and they can be irritating to my skin (and DH's as well). we both use and love the philosophy's "purity" now. many soaps irritate me badly, but this one works great for both of us. i add a lil bit of apricot oil or coconut oil to it in the bottle, its a bit more moisturizing then. :ibh:

If it was "all natural" you would have to keep it in the fridge !
Liars they are LOL
I have used aveda hair products for ages, some i like & some are not worth the expensive amount they charge.
I also used aveda blush & aveda foundation, blush was ok but nothing special & foundation was super dooper oily & i have whole jar left... want it ? LOL
I use ultraceuticals (aussie brand) it is moslty natural with no fragrance, i love it !
Watch out with clinique as it can be very stripping on your skin my beautician told me, very alcohol based. But i have not used it so who knows ! But they should give out testers right ?
I would not use aveda due to the randomness of their good & bad products, maybe just get some samples Bree xx

Bec, Clinique's foundations and moisturizers are fragrance free and alcohol free. You are right about the toners though. They do contain some alcohol and boy did that do a number on my skin when I tried it a year back

actually aubrey organics uses natural preservatives, so you don't have to keep it in the fridge. he has a special combo of vitamins, I believe A, E, C, and grape seed extract, anyway they do have a shorter shelf life but it does help preserve them. you should look the brand up, you might like some of his stuff!

I'm not very worried about it being "all natural" or not. I am disappointed that the Proactive didn't work very well for me, but I think my hormones play a HUGE role in the problem, being off the pill. The Aveda just seems so expensive to me (yah, I'm cheap :), and of course the people at my salon are going to talk it up because all they sell is Aveda~!
Will have to ponder this a little more...thanks for the input~! (sorry, my button sticks on this keyboard for the exclamation point)

Well, I caved and bought the set of stuff. So far, it is not as drying as the Proactive, and I will say that the face wash feels AMAZING when you use it. That will last forever, since it's a foam/pump thing, and you only need to use one pump at a time.
I'll give you all a better verdict when I've been using it a few weeks~!

I think sometimes if you have to spend more for something that works better for you, then its $$ well spent.
but I am "cheap" too so I can relate! LOL. I buy philosophy's "purity" cleanser, but I buy it in bulk at QVC so its only $47 including shipping for a huge 32oz bottle, so its much cheaper that way. I hope it ends up being something you like! its so hard to find stuff thats compatible with your skin and works like ya want it to. :cy%m:
