Advice about triathlon swimming?

I am a pretty strong swimmer but I freestyle it and I have a feeling that the breaststroke will be the way to go for this upcoming tri I am doing. Any advice for me? I am going to the pool 2-3 times per week and trying to practice with the breaststroke now. Should I be doing anything else? Is freestyle OK for a tri or not?

I thought that freestyle/crawl were how most triathletes do the swim????

I have no experience with triathlons yet...I'm doing a relay in september. I did however contact this store that specializes in gear, and it turns out they run clinics for beginners. ARe you training with a group?

Ah ha! Good, then I am set if I can freestyle it. No, not training with anyone right now. Just going to my bootcamp class on Thursdays for extra strength training along with five other classes each week (3Xaerobics and 2Xweights) plus the pool now for 2-3 times and as much extra cardio on the side as I can get in. I am tired! Only two more weeks to go until my tri and then I can see how I like it. This will be my first one.
I am actually looking forward to laying on my butt for a while after this!

Wow, that's a lot! That's why I kind of shy away from Triathlons...they seem to take up all your free time. That and I don't have a bike or a wet suit. Ocean is too cold out here!

Well, I already had a bike but don't need a wet suit for this one thankfully. It's in a res that is supposed to be fairly warm in summer. I don't like how the training is taking up so much time but I hope I will be happy with the results! I doubt I will do this again but it's kind of a cool thing to do on the eve of the big 4-0.
