Such a great idea Sissy.
I wanted to vent about a problem I have....turning down free food. WTF!!?? I got to conferences all the time and for some reason it becomes okay to have eggs, bacon, a chocolate crossiant and ten cups of coffee for breakfast, not to mention the buffet lunch with dessert cart. Happens all the time when its FREE! WTH. I work for a healthcare organization and it was a conference on developement gastric surgeries!

Sorry........I am dying laughing here. WTF are they thinking? Pratice what you preach for goodness sake!!!!! And the free food thing.......I totally understand where you are coming from. In the teacher's lounge at work there is ALWAYS crap that we shouldn't be eating! And to make it worse, there's a "Biggest Loser" competition going on right now. You'd think whoever provides the snacks for that week would be at least considerate of those participating and provide a healthy option!
For me.........I avoid going through the lounge when I need to go to the office. Too much temptation. I take the long route.......and that gives me a little more exercise as well. Also, make sure you are eating every 3 hours or so. The WORST thing to do is to take yourself hungry to a buffet or any free food for that matter. If you've already eaten, you won't indulge as much. _________________

My biggest problem is I have absolutely NO self-control. I don't think I ever tell myself, "no, don't eat that cookie". I just dive right in. I probably shouldn't beat myself up too much, because I DO feel like I can eat whatever I want and I'm doing pretty good at maintaining. And if 10 pounds is all I want to lose, I'm not in bad shape. But why is so hard for me to just tell myself no sweets and junk for a few weeks to really concentrate on dropping those ten.
It's like, I don't even realize I've eaten that brownie and shouldn't until I alredy did. Ughhh!
I know I could probably drop that 10 so easy by just cutting 100 lousy calories a day and runninng one extra mile at each workout session. I have to do it . . . I have to do it . . . . _________________

I work in a chocolate store. Try that one. Every day i eat 1 pc. and stop. I feel like i can still have it so i don't crave it. I still lost 9 lbs. doing that. Then comes pms. I can't stop myself. I try but it is so hard. I turn into a pig. I have been watching calories and doing Turbo Jam. All of a sudden i stopped losing weight and i don't know why. I'm doing everything the same. I gave myself till May 18th (my anniversary) to hit 10 lbs. I was thinking this will be easy and now i don't know if i will make it. I would like to lose another 10 by Christmas. _________________

My overall problem is lack of will power. I can be so good and stay on track and then something will temp me and I just forget about being good. They say if you slip it's ok, just get right back to eating smart. This is where I have trouble. I mess up and keep on going for the next, say 3 or 4 meals. I need to stick to it. It's like I have a mental block and forget that I'm really trying to be good. I'm not tempted by sweets, mainly carbs do it for me. Yesterday, I went to lunch with friends and had a huge tuna melt(with lots of cheese) and fries. I should have stopped at 1/2 a sandwich and a handful of fries but, no I over did it.
Then I just say to myself, well I blew it. I might as well enjoy myself today and tomorrow, I'll start again in a couple of days. This is my weakness. It's Kashi tomorrow, lol. _________________

True that, Cyndi!! When I was teaching there was ALWAYS stuff in the office and in the lounge. Plus every Friday we had a staff lunch and it was always something very tasty but fattening. Not to mention birthday treats and classroon parties----EEKS.
I have found that I do not make very smart eating choices when I'm hungry. If I bring snacks and eat every few hours, my will power is pretty darn good. But if I'm starving- forget about it!
So I try to always keep food on me or in my car. I usually have dried fruit and nuts and I always stash a bar(either UltraLean Gluco-Support Bar or Organic Food Bar-omega 3 flax) in my purse. |
