I used the Klear Action Whitening System a couple of years ago, and it worked pretty well. I believe you can buy it at Walgreens now. _________________ Ut incepit fidelis sic permanet (As loyal as she began, so she remains)

You're best bet is to get a professional strength kit from your dentist but, if you want to just go to the store and buy them, get either Rembrant/OralB or Crest whitestrips. Both are safe and effective. The differences between professional and over the counter are first, the results last longer with the professional ( you'll need to redo otc more often, sometimes every 2-3 months ) and the strips don't cover the whole arch, so if you smile wide, which most of us do, your front teeth will be noticably whiter than your back ones.
Always look for the ADA seal of approval. It means that the product is safe and does what it promises to do. And, whatever you do, don't overuse any whitening products, follow instructions so you don't dehydrate your enamel.
Have fun!! _________________

| hey~ I got my teeth bleached a couple of years ago and then got a home bleaching kit from my dentist to do touch-ups. The kit was called White and Brite... it came w/ custom made trays and 22% bleach. It cost about $300 and it's perfect for helping me keep my teeth extra whtie. |

I have used these trays for the past few years too, and they work great. I would say it's definately worth the money up front if you have it. I always get compliments about how white my teeth are, and having the trays formed to your mouth makes them really comfortable to have in, which of course makes the upkeep alot easier. _________________

has anyone ever bought the dentist quality stuff online????
my moms dentist gave her nupro Gold. I looked it up and you can buy it for a lot less than they charge at the dentist. you can even make a mold of your teeth at home... I was thinking about doing this, my dentist wants 500 to whiten my teeth. I think i could even go to brite smile for a lot less.
anyway check out this site:

This is awesome! I used day white when I used to work for a dentist, but since getting my braces off my trays don't fit anymore. I wil definately buy a new kit for $100. The Crest works, but is nothing compared to the professional series. Be careful though - the 22% kit is intolerable to many people!
I'm going to get the 16% standark kit with Zoom weekender.
Thanks for sharing this website!! _________________

It's not the same as what we carry in the office. This strength is over the counter.
Professional is either 16% or 22% carbamide peroxide or 9% hydrogen peroxide.
Chelliesmom, sensitivity is common. Try using the whitener every other day and have your dentist prescribe either Prevident 5000 or MI Paste to use during whitening. Both work great to desensitize. HTH! _________________

The light systems do work for the short term. You'll most likely find that your results don't last very long though. You'll probably be ready to whiten again within 3 months. _________________

No, it will probably work but, how are you going to use it? You need custom made trays to keep it in contact with the teeth for a certain period of time. Also, coming in big tube like that, it's hard to control how much you use. We dispense it in small syringes so you get a small amount in the tray. If you use too much, it smears on the gum and burns the tissue. There is also the issue of monitoring. Just in case you experience sensitivity or over-use it and dehydrate the enamel.
If you're going to use any OTC whiteners, use either the whitestrips or Rembrandt/oral B. At least those come in a controlled application and are at safe strengths. Plus, they have been proven effective. I'm not sure what the stuff on that website is.
There is a paste we use called Nupro, but it's for polishing and I don't believe that company makes whiteners. Just be careful. If it sounds too good to be true......... _________________

Best Way to Whiten Up your Teeth:
Everyone desires for sparking, bright & shiny teeth. Teeth whitening have been a helpful procedure to improve the colour of teeth. Teeth can be tinted on the surface due to drink or food, blackcurrant, red wine, tea; coffee has great effect on the yellowing of teeth. Smoking is also responsible for the discoloration of teeth. There are many solutions for whitening your teeth.
Laser whitening is called "power whitening"
This is quite an expensive method, but many people think that this is the perfect teeth whitening way. During this procedure, a rubber block is positioned over the teeth to protect the gum, & the whitening merchandise is then high lightened on the teeth. A laser is used to arouse the chemical. The light helps to boost the element reaction of bleaching product, in this way changed colour can be achieved more rapidly. Most of Dentists consider that laser whitening has always good result.
HOME REMEDIES FOR WHITINING OF TEETH:
The 2 basic types of whitening kits come in the form of strips or bleaching trays. Bleaching trays are usually given to the patient by a whitening specialist at a clinic, or you can pick them up at a department store. The bleaching trays can be quite expensive and bulky, and are usually worn for several hours during the day or even overnight.
Teeth whitening strips can be had for less than $50, and contain some type of peroxide bleaching ingredient. The strips adhere to your teeth like bandaids, and can be worn all day without anybody noticing. The strips are also quite comfortable and unless you are eating a meal, you hardly notice them.
