I"ve never used RetinA products before but if you're experiencing dryness, I'm sure it's only temporary.

S.N. should be able to help you if he sees this thread.

You may need a different prescription strength or stagger your use of it. I can't use mine everyday...rather every 3 days. It does dry the skin and will cause peeling. I've heard the gel form is good as well and would like to try it at .05%. I currently use 1% which I think is too much for my sensitive skin...hence the every 3 day use. Remember also you only need a pea sized amount for your entire face. In the case of RETIN-A...less is definately best!

Also...do not use any other drying agent on your face or have a peel around the time of your using the Retin-A. It will just exacerbate the drying.

Retin-A can definitely dry or irritate or make your skin peel. Its worse in the beginning and improves after a few weeks. You need a good moisturizer to go along with it. You may need to cut back to every other day or even less frequently or possibly to a weaker dose but the response you are having is within the range of normal. Tell your doctor your symptoms and together, play around with the dose and frequency until you get the right mixture of effect and side-effect.

Good luck.

I've been using Retin A micro and found that I can use it only for a few days, then I have to stop for a few days in between. Otherwise, my face looks terribly dried out and red. I use Cetaphil moisturizer when using it, and it really helps to "hide" the flaking skin.

I use it pretty regularly. I alternate one night of REtina and one night of a heavy duty moisturizer.

I don't double up and use it at the same time. I hear that some lotions renders the RetinA ineffective.

It works out pretty well.

Be careful of the sun. RetinA makes your skin super sensitive to burning. And it does cause my skin to peel. But it also looks much better and healthier since I've started using it.

I have been using a SkinCeuticals Retinol product for about 3 weeks.
I began using it once every 3 days & then after a week or so i began using it once a day at night.
It is best to leave it on for half an hour by itself before you put moisturiser on top of it. Store it in a dry, cool place.. as light & heat can destroy the product. Also to let it get deep into your skin, try & give your skin a good exfoliate before you put it on.
I am also using Ultraceuticals Even Skin Tone serum of a morning, to reduce pigmentaion.
I have slight peeling on the side of my face still now after using it for a few weeks. But i do know its only temporary. & my skin is looking so good & clear that i am willing to put up with a bit of peeling.
I just make sure i exfoliate every second day to help rid it :sprt6%:
Hope that hepls

I use it. I peel too. My make up looks the worst if I try to use powder over my liquid foundation so I just skip it during those times. I try to use it every day but usually can only tolerate it like every other day. I also do microdermabrasion and acid peels every three months so I have to stop three weeks prior to and one week following those so the Retin A is a very on again off again thing for me.

I'm Sharing with you benefits and sideffects of Retin A
===================================

Retin-AŽ Benefits

Retin-AŽ is useful in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. Patients with congested pores, whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules, or cysts (deep pimples) may benefit from Retin-AŽ treatment. Retin-AŽ can also improve the appearance of dark spots, wrinkles, rough skin, and skin damaged by overexposure to the sun.
Retin-AŽ Risks and Side Effects

Although serious medical side effects from Retin-A are rare, it is possible to experience temporary skin irritation or redness. This can typically be avoided by gradually increasing the frequency and amount of Retin-AŽ administered, to allow the skin to adjust to treatment. Irritation is particularly common within the first three weeks of treatment. Retin-AŽ patients may experience a worsening of acne before improvement. Retin-AŽ may also increase the risk of sunburn. For this reason, application of sunscreen while using Retin-AŽ is strongly recommended. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use Retin-AŽ. Following your doctor’s specific instructions will decrease the risk of side effects.
