i figure ill also save a little money (not in the long run but little by little) bcuz if i buy a gift or two at a time its better than getting them all one day KWIM?

I start christmas shopping in June. That's not a joke. But I also only buy one gift for each person on my list, including family.
So, there's never really any pressure. I just make sure the ONE thing I get is what I'm sure I want to give.

I bought something for my Nana 2 weeks ago, and I've started putting my list together.

I usually buy a lot on Black Friday
LOVE that day!

I did a thread about this a month or two ago. Im already done. For my children atleast. I hate waiting to the last minute. The earlier you go I feel a sense of accomplishment and relief. I spoil the kiddo's for christmas and it's so fun watching them unwrap the gifts. KWIM.

Bah Hum Bug!!! I have canceled gifts at my house this year!! We will of course get the kids each a little something but other than that any monies slated for christmas will go to the awful dreaded plastic!!

Figure if I wipe that out then we might actually be able to take a real vacation one day! Told the kids that Santa had an economic downsizing too!! The looks on the faces were priceless!! They are good kids - they turned around and started going through their toys that they never play with - can we give these to other kids that don't have anything??

We are big on donating in my house - I clean out the house at least three times a year!

This is my struggle every year! WE have family that lives in the same city as we do, we NEVER see them, by choice and schedule. Why do I feel obligated to get presents for people I see once a year and esp. their kids!!! I want to go to a drawing name system, and just get one gift for one of them, but my SIL never wants to do this. (BITCH)! We told them already we are going out of town, but how do you politely say, don't get my kids anything cause I don't want to get your kids something!! It's not really a money issue, I want to spend my money on MY kids, not anyone elses!!! I have been buying gift card every week for my girls, it makes it easy and they love gift cards, I'll give them a box full of gift cards!

The "grown-ups" draw names in my family. And, it's supposed to be kept a secret!

Then, we buy for all the "kids", or third generation - KWIM?

But, I always break the rules. If I see something that's just perfect for one or two people whose names I didn't draw, I still get it for them!!!! And, of course, my Mom! I have to get her something!

With DH's family, we buy for his parents. And then for his nieces and nephews - whom we never see (long, sorted, dysfunctional family crap - his brothers and sister are steps) - DH insists on getting them gift cards, or movie theater certificates even though their parent's never, and for many years, get a thing for our kids. Guess I'm just being nasty and bitter - but there's a prinicple KWIM???

Hello everyone
Here i have some suggestion for Christmas shopping.

1. Brand matters

Shop at good quality stores. Christmas is a time to buy gifts for others, so you don’t want to buy cheap goods that will last only a few months. Look for durable items that will remind your recipient of your love throughout the coming year.

2. Stay safe

If you’re buying online; be sure that the website has SSL technology. You definitely want your credit card information to stay secure. Further, if you don’t receive your purchased item, you can contest the charge.

3. Make a list

One way to save money this Christmas would be to prepare a list well in advance. Don’t head out to the store only with your credit card in hand. Impulse shopping can keep you up at night worrying about bills!

4. Special wrapping

Christmas gifts are more than just gifts. They reflect the sentiments of the giver. So save a little money to wrap up your gift in a special way. You can even add a customized note to each family member.

5. Discounts

They can be found at almost every store. Make best use of them! Keep your eyes open for a good bargain. However, don’t compromise on quality!
