[]Bra fitting can be frustrating for some but if you know a few key tips, it can be a pleasurable experience.
When fitting a bra, it's important to know that there are 2 key elements in how the bra will fit. One is band and the other is cup.
To determine band size:
--- Take a soft tape measure and measure underneath your breasts all the way around. Remember to pull the tape measure somewhat snug since this is how the band is to fit. Write this number down.
---The old method required that you always add 5 inches for odd numbers and 4 inches for even numbers. New methods allow for 3-5 inches increase to your number.
Example if you measure 29" under the bust 29 + 3 = 32. 29+ 4 = 33
29+ 5 = 34. Since bra bands only come in even sizes your options would be a 32 or 34 band.
-- It's important that the band feel snug on the loosest hook when trying the bra on. This is because of the fact that the bra will grow up to 4" after longterm wear. When the band no longer feels snug, the bra has lost its support.
---Now that you have a good idea of your band size, next comes the cup size. It's important to understand that this will vary amongst not only manufacturers but styles within the same manufacturer.
--The demi cup bra is the shallowest cut cup and will cover the least while the full coverage will cover the most. The goal of the cup is to completely encompass but not necessarily cover the entire breast. There should be know bulges or wrinkles in the cup.
--The traditional method requires that you measure high under your arms around your back and over the fullest part of your bust. This is generally at the nipple level. Keep the tape measure a little looser with this measurement. Write this number down.
--Now that you have both numbers, subtract the band measurement from the cup measurement. The difference is your cup size.
1" = A
2" = B
3' = C
4' = D
5' = DD
6" = DDD
7" = DDDD and so forth.
Example: If you measure 37" across the bust and your band was 34(30+4) then you would be a 34C
The traditional method isnt always 100% accurate so it's important that you rely not only on the nubmers but on how the bra fits as well. It's important if you are unsure to get fitted by a professional. That's what they are there for.

Some key tips are :
----If the band is riding up in the back, try tightening the hook OR going down in band size.
---If the shoulder straps are falling down, try tightening the straps, going down in band size or simply choose a bra that has thicker straps that are less mobile (if you have slanting shoulders)
---If the cups wrinkle or pucker, go down a cup size.
---If your breasts are bulging out of the sides or the top of the cup, either increase your cup size OR find a bra that has steeper coverage.
---If your back has indentations on it in the area of the band, go up a band size (remember to go down a cup size to compensate)
--If the shoulder straps are leaving red marks on your shoulders, either loosen the straps or go down a band size so you are relying on the band for support and NOT the shoulder straps.
---Remember when you have a good fitting bra on, you shouldnt be able to tell it's there. It should be "part of you". _________________ 34 y/o female

something is not right though. I am not a 38c. and If I was to use that measurement, that is what I would be.
I can wear a 34D, 36C,38D, 36DD, I think there is alot of play with the bras.
But Im 33 inch ribcage an 41 across my boobs. So what bra would fit me most correct? and Fredricks measured me a 36DD, but I think Im a D. _________________

Those measurements alone, you would be a 36DD.It's possible that the bra run big and you be a 36D, too. The old system would make you a 38iC or 38D but since band fit is so important, I would opt for the 36 band instead. _________________ 34 y/o female

thx Carissa. I have noticed my bras fit better in a 36 band, rather than a 38 band. I believe Im a DD since I bulge out of the top of my bras, but I dont mind that since I like that look. I also get D bras for alot of cheap sales. It wont hurt your boobs if your in a D, but really wear a DD? Mine seem not to bother me with the cleavage look.
this siggy pic is a 36C bra. _________________
