|
|
I tried, for the first time, a balsamic reduction sauce to go over some italian seasoned ckn and sauted onions that I cooked in olive oil in the pan.
I used 1.5 C of balsamic vinegar
3 TBS brown sugar
and some garlic powder and dried rosemary to taste [The recipe called for fresh rosemary sprigs and two garlic cloves to be put in the pan then removed once the mix reduces and gets thicker but I didn't have fresh so I improvised. ]
Anyway, cook it in a separate pan - put all the ingredients in the pan and bring to a boil. Then turn down and simmer for 10-15 min. until sauce thickens. You can really tell it's getting ready when it coats the back of your spoon when stirring. It took me a little longer than 10-15 min. though cause I had the heat too low. Once I turned it up a bit to a mild boil (just little bubbles on the side) then it reduced better.
It was very yummy!! :ban38:

| Yum! Sounds like it would be good over a steak too. I'll have to try it. |

That's the first thing that came to mind too, though we didn't have steak in the freezer. I'm pretty sure I've seen it at restaurants, maybe Olive Garden, over steak or some other type of beef. 289)_9 _________________
