Hey Girls,

I will be attempting to make Tamales during the kids Christmas break. This will be a first for me. Apparently Tamales freeze great so you can make a large batch and store them up during the winter hybernation. lol. haa haa Does anyone have any tips for making Tamales? Am I insane to try? lol.

Yes you are insane. LOL. That is alot of work and I buy them already made. I am lazy. But they taste so good. I just don't have the paticence for it.

I attempted it today!! They are steaming right now! I am praying they turn out at least decent. And I really didn't think it all THAT much work. The steaming takes a long time, & I do have to be here to keep an eye on it, but that's the biggest effort of it all in my opinion. I could easily see myself making these again. I am so happy I decided to jump in & give it a try. I did them with a chicken filling (got the recipe out of a cookbook), but DH says he LOVES sweet tamales. I'm just not sure what he likes in there..........I think his sister makes them, so I'll have to ask her. I'll be at her house on Christmas day, so I'll ask her then. I didn't realize they freeze well, I'll see how these turn out & maybe make another batch to freeze.

advice? get other people to help you out.. it will get it done faster and be fun at the same time.. its alot of work.. but worth it in the end.. IF you like them.. lol me nope ill help but wont eat them i dont like maza
